With the Villa's usual Home at Sussex University closed over Easter the game was moved to the 3G pitch over the road at Brighton University with our thanks to AFC Varndeanians for facilitating this.
Going into the wind 1st half the Home side conceded their first goal from open play for 8 games thanks to a nicely weighted lob from Ryan Hallett in just the 10th minute. A rather scrappy affair was levelled up on the half hour thanks to fine work from Nick Boutal and Nic Eadie down the right hand flank with the latter putting in an excellent cross for skipper Dave MacNeill to head home at the far post.
Whilst Villa had most of the game in the second period thanks to wind advantage the game was no less scrappy and it was not decided until the 83rd minute when captain fantastic Dave MacNeill headed home again, this time from a well delivered free kick from Tod Brennan.
Not one for the purist but job done against a team who themselves had not conceded in their previous three outings.
So that's now eight straight wins but, with Easter Monday's trip to face Hurstpierpoint falling foul of the weather, there is absolutely no room for complacency as it's now two tough games to come against Roffey and Rottingdean Village respectively.
