As the great Jimmy Greaves would still no doubt say, "it's a funny old game". Having only conceded one goal from open play in the last eight games (all of which had been won), it was to all end in spectacular fashion in a game that just about had everything.

Although the Home side arguably had the great share of possession and territory in the 1st period it was the Visitors who took a three goal lead into the break. They played excellent counter attacking football with plenty of pace and movement and rounding off with excellent finishing. Villa could have had a goal or two of their own but it wasn't to be.

Things got worse for the Home side soon after the re-start with Bosham scoring a fourth and seemingly putting the game to bed. However the Villains had other ideas and staged an incredible fightback with goals from Dave MacNeill (59), George Hatton (65), Aaron Blackwell(71) and Nick Boutal (80) to level things up at 4-4 and pressing for the winner.

Unfortunately though that's where the fairytale ends! In the 89 minute the ref, who had actually had an excellent game decided to award Bosham a corner despite the assistant giving a goal kick. The ball came in, bobbled around like a pinball and was eventually stabbed home from close range, 4-5.

It was all too much for Aaron Blackwell, who then picked up a second yellow in stoppage time having taken one for the team earlier in the piece.

What a game. The run had to come to an end at some point but great character shown by one and all to never give up because you just never know what might happen

As for Bosham, they will no doubt be disappointed to have almost let things slip away but they are a very good side and will go into our forthcoming semi-final (date and venue still to be advised) as clear favourites having now done the double over us and almost certainly will finish higher in the League than us....but you just never know what might happen.
