What a performance from the boys yesterday. I think both teams were well matched and that made for a very exciting game.

It all started pretty slowly, the boys looked like they had been on an all night bender. They went 3 goals down, Mark and I thought (as Harry and Ronnie would put it) “Oh dear we are in trouble!”  To our surprise their heads didn’t drop and with some good goals from Ronnie and some great team work we nearly got a draw out of the first game.

In the second game the boys upped a gear and started to play some free flowing football and looked like they were really enjoying the game. Ronnie and Harry scored 2 cracking goals.

Like I said, the boys put in a great performance, not just individually but as a team. Veer was strong in defence and like a cat in goal, he was pulling off some amazing saves and his distribution is getting a lot better.

Caspar was great in goal and starting to play the sweeper keeper role. As he’s such a good tackler we’ve been telling him to come off his line and put some tackles in and in the second game it seemed to be working. He also had a great game on the field and is getting more confident on the ball.

Pace as always gives his all to the match. He put some really nice passes together and nearly scored a couple of goals.

Fin was very quiet in the first game, then he got more and more into it and it seemed like someone put the switch on. I said to him at half time that he is a big strong lad, get stuck in, pass the ball about and enjoy yourself. I think he actually listened to me. Fin nearly scored more than a few times, inches away from a couple of Ronnie’s crosses, a great shot on goal where the goalie saved it and another that went past the post. He seemed hungry for it and wanted to carry on playing, I hope this carries on.

Harry had a great game, so visually aware of what’s going on around him, scored a cracker of a goal. He is getting stuck in so much more than last season and his passing is second to none. Harry is a top notch player but what frustrates us is that he has to believe in himself and stop putting himself down. Once he does there will be no stopping him.

Ronnie had a solid game, he must’ve touched every blade of grass on the pitch. Running past players with some great skills and scoring 4 fabulous goals especially the free kick near the halfway line. He did some lovely crosses into the box that were agonisingly inches away from Fin to poke the ball home.

Dylan had a fantastic game putting some great tackles in, getting very skilful on the ball, looks up and quickly passing the ball without any fuss. He really is growing in confidence every match.

Archie had a great game, actually I think his best game yet. Never gave up snapping at the heels of the opposition, he was running with the ball, showing some great skills, twisting and turning the defence inside out.

The boys are all growing with confidence every game and progressing very quickly into a very good team.

As you saw all the kids played so well and it was hard to for you and us to decide who got Man of the Match, but we’ve reached our decision.

Boy of the Match:

Parents.   Dylan

Coaches. Archie

Well done, you two are next week’s captains.

Thanks to Sean who is progressing as fast as the boys.

Yes I started this this morning and I got a bit carried away. Sorry.
